TREND WATCH

Three Days on the Floor: What Beautyworld Dubai 2026 Actually Sold

The organiser counts USD 1.19 billion in reported deals, with skincare and finished fragrance each taking close to 30 per cent. For a skincare or colour brand, the useful part is that fragrance took its share from far fewer stands, and what that does to a Gulf shelf in 2027.

Fragrance had its own hall this year, and the rest of the show arranged itself around it. That is the first thing a buyer noticed walking in on Tuesday 6 October, and it is the shape the organiser's own figures confirm three days later.

Messe Frankfurt Middle East's closing release of 9 October puts the 30th edition at USD 1.19 billion in reported business, 51,614 deals gathered from 1,324 exhibitor interviews, and 62,130 visitors, 42 per cent of them from outside the UAE. The final Thursday was the strongest day, at 18,956 deals worth USD 460 million. Behind that stood 1,300 exhibitors from 56 countries, 239 of them new.

Those numbers are reported, not audited. The organiser asked exhibitors what they had closed and added it up. Read USD 1.19 billion as a mood, a very good one, not an invoice total.

The split is what matters for a shelf. Cosmetics and skincare took close to 30 per cent of reported deal value, and so did finished fragrance, the same release says. This is not a perfume fair with a skincare annexe. It is two categories of equal weight. Fragrance earned its share from just over a sixth of the exhibitors, by our own guide's count of more than 220 out of 1,300. Skincare's equal share came from the wider floor.

Where the crowds were

The fragrance hall put the ingredient houses, Givaudan, dsm-firmenich, Symrise and Takasago among them, in the same space as the Gulf's finished-fragrance brands, the organiser says. Lattafa used the show for three launches. Armaf, from Sterling Parfums, ran a launch at 12.30 every day and drew more than 100 people a session, by the organiser's count. Rasasi brought Bollywood actor Salman Khan to unveil Kenz de Rasasi and filled the aisles of Za'abeel Hall 6.

"Oud, the region's most loved note, is now the number-two trending fragrance note globally on social media," Hani Jabbour, Senior Vice President Beauty, Luxury Tech and Media at Chalhoub Group, said on Day Two. That is the trade story in one sentence: the Gulf increasingly exports scent as well as importing it.

I arrived expecting a quieter show, given the political backdrop. It felt busier than ever: packed halls and queues. Dubai has a habit of leaving a difficult season stronger than it entered it, and on the evidence of these three days I expect businesses and investors to keep committing to it for years to come.

Korea had a national pavilion alongside France, Brazil, Italy and, for the first time, the Philippines. The organiser's category figures are by value, not by exhibitor, so how many of those stands converted is not in the release.

For a skincare brand arriving from Europe or Seoul, the practical point is Arabic on the pack, label work of the kind specialist translators such as Lingua Beauty handle for Gulf shelves.

Professional hair sold through people

The other crowd was on the beautyLIVE stage, not at a stand. Keralook introduced its new global ambassador there, and Shark Beauty and Living Proof put their tools in named stylists' hands in front of a professional room, the organiser's 7 October release says. The same release cites the GCC in Focus report for a GCC beauty market of USD 14.3 billion in 2025, heading for USD 20.8 billion by 2030.

"Education is, without doubt, the only way you're going to reach the next level," said Josh Lamonaca, British Men's Hairdresser of the Year 2025/2026, from the stage. The release makes the commercial version of the same point: Gulf distributors judge a professional hair brand by the training it brings before they discuss margin.

The case against

Not everything the floor said was good news for a European brand. Brazil, the USA, the UK and France were among the leading visitor countries, with Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Oman alongside them, the organiser says, so the distributor you meet on a stand may be sourcing for São Paulo as easily as for Riyadh. The launches that drew the biggest crowds, on the organiser's account, came from Gulf houses launching to the world. The organiser itself describes a shift from regional gateway to global platform, and a brand that comes only to find a local distributor is one of 1,300 competing for the same attention.

What is new for 2027

A date and a move. Notes Dubai, a separate platform for niche, independent and artistic perfumery, runs from 21 to 23 January 2027 at Dubai Mall Exhibition Centre, with Amouage and Xerjoff as founding partners, two business days then a consumer day, and a conference programme called Accords run with Amouage, according to its 9 October media release. Ravi Ramchandani, Event Director of both shows, is running it.

And Beautyworld Dubai itself leaves Dubai World Trade Centre after 30 editions. The 2027 show moves to Dubai Exhibition Centre at Expo City Dubai, the organiser confirmed.

"When this show began 30 years ago, the industry came here to sell. Today, it comes to discover, to invest and to learn," Ramchandani said in the closing release.

Why it matters

For a skincare or colour brand, fragrance and skincare took close to 60 per cent of reported deal value between them, and fragrance did it from a sixth of the exhibitors.

For a professional hair brand, the shelf is the educator. Distributors want a training calendar before a price list.

For a fragrance brand that is not a Gulf house, January now matters more than October. Notes Dubai is a dedicated niche platform, and it opens before the next Beautyworld does.

Watch for: Notes Dubai, 21 to 23 January 2027. Beautyworld Dubai 2027 at Expo City Dubai, dates to be confirmed by the organiser.
